2007 Deutsche Bank golf interview - Tiger's goals
2007-09-02: At the Deutsche Bank Championship, Tiger Woods has just finished a third round frustrated by difficulties judging the green speeds. Jimmy Roberts asks about his goals, specifically numerical indicators of career performance. Tiger explains that major victories are top priority because everyone knows the Nicklaus total number of major wins, but they don't know Sam Snead's total of tournament wins.

1993 PGA Championship - Paul Azinger wins
Просмотров 10 тыс.9 лет назад
I just thank the lord, he gave me the strength to be here (on RUclips) today. We're looking back to 1993-08-15. Greg Norman, the British Open champion, is attempting his second consecutive major victory. Paul Azinger is winless in majors. We join the broadcast on playoff hole #2 (the 10th). Azinger's birdie attempt fails to drop, but his par proves sufficient to beat Norman's three-putt bogey. ...

Ian Baker-Finch career moments

We begin with the 1991 British Open Thursday morning broadcast opening, then skip to the Sunday coverage as Ian birdies 17 to clinch his victory. After that, we jump ahead to round 1 of the 1993 Colonial, where Baker-Finch had achieved his other PGA Tour win in 1989. This time, he apparently exploits a loophole in the dress code to make himself more comfortable.

2000-08-13: This is the recap from the end of the CBS broadcast. The win by Rocco Mediate was his career 4th. Tiger Woods finished T11th, but would go on in the next two weeks to win both his third consecutive major, and a WGC. The Michigan event was discontinued after 2009 due to loss of sponsorship.
2001 US Open golf Sunday 18th hole - Unbelievable
Просмотров 12 тыс.9 лет назад
2001-06-17: As we join the NBC broadcast, Mark Brooks has already three-putt bogeyed the 18th. Stewart Cink now misses a near tap-in bogey attempt, leaving Retief Goosen two putts from 10 feet for par to win.
2002 Players Championship golf Saturday - Phil Mickelson - "Do you believe this, Roger?"
Просмотров 9 тыс.9 лет назад
2002-03-23: This is a chronicle of five putts by Phil Mickelson. Unfortunately, they're all at the same hole the par-4 10th. Mickelson had been the first-round leader at 8-under 64, but his quad-bogey 8 here would knock him decisively out of contention.

Note: I'm not sure about the promos at the end for other CBS shows. It's possible they're from a different video recording on a different date. Regardless, I'm bummed to have missed Jerry Lewis in a "very special dramatic ro...

No guarantee Goosen three-putts if Cink would have made it. The atmosphere changes, the mentality of the golfers change. Goosen just saw a miss, so he is thinking differently, In fact, Goosen likely never three-putts if Cink makes.

Why don't announcers in golf, like ever, explain why hitting a 4wood there, or say, hitting an iron, is the safer play when trying to protect a lead and making sure you hit the fairway. I mean, not once in the many decades I have watched, have they ever explained it. The casual fan doesn't know. For example, if the average hacker had to guarantee that he hit the fairway, if he tried to hit an iron off the tee, or even a 4wood, he would have much less chance of hitting the fairway than he would hitting a driver. Obviously the pros control the ball better with irons and 4wood's, etc. but how about one time in 50 years explaining that to the public, because it is the exact opposite of what they should do when under pressure.

Come on. Greg Norman had a 20 foot birdie attempt on 18 to win...it lipped out. Norman had the same putt on the 1st playoff hole (18th hole again) go down into the hole, but kick out again; to watch it happen real time was surreal. That cup on 18 was painted all the way to the grass for TV and was slippery...but....Azinger and Norman had to putt on the same green and Azinger won. Norman made 2 fine putts but still lost. No choke.
